Once upon a time I had an ad critiqued by one of the world’s few copywriting geniuses. Not a “freelance” copywriter. But someone who has made millions writing ads only for his own products and services. Anyway, after reading my sales letter he said something that’s completely changed the way I write copy. You often see writers starting off their articles with a subordinate clause. This many be fine for features or soft articles but should be avoided for more direct pieces.
